Primary
cooperatives are made up of people. According to the nature of its objectives

Cooperativas de base Están conformadas por personas. De acuerdo con la naturaleza de sus objetivos pueden ser cooperativas especializadas, multiactivas o integrales.
Cooperativas de segundo grado Sus integrantes son organismos cooperativos de base, precooperativas, asociaciones mutuales, fondos de empleados que tienen como objetivo prestar servicios culturales, sociales o económicos las cooperativas asociadas. En este nivel se encuentran los bancos cooperativos.
Organismos de tercer grado Conformados por organismos de segundo grado, se constituyen con el fin de defender los intereses del sector cooperativo, trazar políticas y directrices del mismo en procura de un desarrollo y fomento cooperativo.
Precooperativas Son grupos que se organizan para realizar actividades permitidas a las cooperativas, pero que aún no están en capacidad de organizarse como tales, lo cual deberán hacer en el término de cinco años.
Otras formas asociativas Fondos de empleados Son empresas asociativas de derecho privado, sin ánimo de lucro, constituidas por trabajadores dependientes y subordinados a un patrono bien sea de carácter público o privado.
Asociaciones mutualistas Son personas jurídicas de derecho privado, sin ánimo de lucro, constituidas por personas naturales inspiradas en la solidaridad con el objeto de brindarse ayuda eventual y satisfacer sus necesidades mediante la prestación de servicios de seguridad social.
Banca social Engloba los principios y la filosofía de carácter social, liderada por los organismos cooperativos de grado superior. Su objetivo es prestar oportuno servicio con el otorgamiento de créditos para el desarrollo de las diferentes actividades de la economía, con las más bajas tasas de interés del mercado, logrando la socialización del crédito.
